New York City

Jerry's internship involved traveling all over the Northeastern Region to different office locations, and to building sites where he inspected the Otis elevator installation, etc.  He was able to go to the Citi field and Barclays arena in Brooklyn.  He also went to one of the tallest building in Philadelphia, and got quite a view of the city.  For a guy who is a slight bit scared of heights, maybe working for an elevator isn't the smartest thing.  haha.  Just kidding.
When he was working on Long Island and Brooklyn I got up my guts and braved the New York traffic and drove in to meet him.  I drove in Wednesday, late afternoon and met Jerry at the hotel at about 7:30.  We just got dinner there in the hotel that night, and hung out.  Jerry went into Brooklyn the next morning to work and the kids and I hung out at the hotel for a while.  We went swimming, then got a late lunch.  Jerry got back to the hotel at around 5:30.  We grabbed some dinner and decided to drive into the city to do some sight seeing.  The kids really wanted to go to central park again, but by the time we got there it was starting to hit the evening hours, and we didn't want to worry about parking for just an hour.  We had a blast just driving around the city.  There is such an excitement in New York City.  We drove up and down the streets with the windows down so we cold listen to the buzz, and the people all around.  Jerry took the opportunity to honk any time he could, just so he could fit in.  Props to him on learning to drive aggressively in New York City.

I just liked these buildings.  It kind of reminded me of the apartment facade from "Friends" haha.

Empire State Building

A little shout out to "Mad Men".  For fun we were listening to the Mad Men theme song as we drove down Madison Avenue.

Statue of Liberty
Jerry went to work early Friday morning and originally I'd planned to head back to New Jersey that afternoon, but I didn't know for sure if the kids and I'd be coming back to New York this summer.  I really wanted to go see the Statue of Liberty, and wanted the kids to have the opportunity to see it.  So once again, I got up my guts and drove to Staten Island.  Yes, you may tell me how amazing I am.  haha.  And we took the Staten Island Ferry.  It doesn't stop at the Statue of Liberty, but it goes right by it, and you get a great view of the skyline.  I'm so glad we did it.  It was great, with only a few stress out moments.

after driving forever trying to find the parking area we finally found it.  Here we are right before going into the ferry station.  I love seeing the city in the background.

There she is!

Pretty awesome!
