Say Cheese!

I know, there are a lot of cute kids out there, but I happen to think we lucked out with the cutest of cute kids(:  Ah, love these kiddos to pieces!

The photographer called these the "eyelash pictures"  Love them.

Rebecca turns 6

This BEAUTIFUL girl turned 6 on November 16th.  She has a bit of her mother in her and had the countdown going for months.  I actually had to tell her we couldn't start planning her birthday party till after Luke's birthday in September because she was ready to send out invitations in March.
Her birthday was on Friday.  I went with Sydney and Luke and we ate lunch with Rebecca and Hayden at the school.  Then I went back as the mystery reader in her class a few hours later.
The school had movie night that night so we didn't have time to do our family party until after she got back that night at 8:00.  She is not a cake fan.  She requested Hello Kitty cupcakes - which she scrapes the frosting off of .  Oh, I wish I was as healthy as my girl.  And she wanted plain vanilla ice cream.  We ate cupcakes and ice cream, and opened presents.  And as always, we took turns sharing our favorite thing/memory of Rebecca.

I swore I wouldn't do yearly birthday parties for our kids because it is so much work.  But somehow I found myself doing another party.  She first wanted to do Chuck E. Cheese, so I told her that's fine, she'd just get to choose 1 friend and we'd go have fun there - but not the whole "Chuck E Cheese Birthday Thing"  Since she wasn't going to be able to do the ticket blaster she wasn't so excited about that.  So we ended up having a friend party.  It was actually much easier than last year.  It was quite a fun party.  She is very into Hello Kitty and art right now.  So we started with paining some Hello Kitty masks.

Then we did some more art projects and opened presents, ate lunch and cupcakes and ice cream cups.

Some things about Rebecca at 6
She has grown up so much this last year.  We are so proud of her.  She is in full day Kindergarten and loving it.  She loves to play school at home and she is a good "teacher."  She is actually 6 going on 16.  She loves to listen to her music and sing along.  It's not uncommon to see her with headphones in listening to our ipod singing along to her favorite songs.  She cracks us up.  Her favorite band is Big Time Rush.  She has a huge crush on the singer, Kendall.  The main reason she likes him is because on an episode of their show he can do a headstand.  She thinks that is so cool - so he's so cute, and she wants to marry him.  I guess he recently moved to Las Vegas - Thanks TMZ- so now she wants to go find his house next time we visit.  haha.  She is so cute.  She is still a health nut, just out of preference.  Her favorite food is cucumbers.  She eats a salad every day at lunch.  And she would rather have water than soda any day.  Don't get me wrong, she also likes some "unhealthy" things too, but she really is a healthy eater.  She is a great artist.  She loves coloring and really amazes me with her pictures.  She is also a great reader.  I wish I could take the credit for this, but I didn't teach her, other than just reading to her.  She reads and writes really well.  Such a smart girl.
She takes ownership of her things.  Sometimes that's good, other times it drives me nuts.  She has all of her favorite things lining the side of her bed on the top bunk.  Because that's the only place they are safe from others.  NOBODY is allowed on her bed unless they are invited.  If you go up uninvited you will be sorry.  It is quite the privilege.
Rebecca LOVES Luke, and is so good with him.  They are little buddies - very similar to how Hayden and Sydney were little buddies at the same ages.  She loves to "babysit" him when I need to shower, or ....ok, ok, when I'm too tired to wake up with my early riser children and she'll sit with him in my bed and watch tv while I sleep an extra half hour.  Lazy??  I say smart!
She is a beautiful girl with a smile that lights up a room.  We LOVE her laugh and she has a great sense of humor and a quick wit.  She is still the mood setter of our home.  When Rebecca is happy, everyone is happy(:  We love her so much and are so happy that she joined our family 6 years ago.

Happy Halloween

I LOVE Halloween!  But for the first time in... I don't know how many years I didn't dress up:(  What a party pooper huh!  We had some ideas, but time got away, and we didn't really have an occasion to dress up, other than just opening the door for trick or treaters.  Next year - PROMISE!!  Even if it is just for Trick or Treaters.  Rebecca chose different outfits for school and Halloween.  She went as Ariel to her school party.
Sydney was Aurora for her preschool party and Halloween too.
Love, Love, Love Federated Preschool.  Her teachers Ms. Lori, and Ms. Maria are wonderful and she has already learned so much, and loves going to preschool.

There was a Halloween Party for the KPA -Krannert Partners Association.  It was a lot of fun.  Unfortunately Jerry wasn't able to go because he was in North Carolina at a job interview.  I went with the kids and we had a great time.
The kids went trick or treating to the different classrooms in the building.

Most of the kids that came to the KPA party.
Sydney as Aurora - Sleeping Beauty
On Halloween night we went trick or treating around the neighborhood first.
Rebecca as Hello Kitty

Hayden as a Rebel Pilot. Yes, another Star Wars outfit.  I think we'll have costumes for the whole cast soon.

Luke as Jack Jack, from the Incredibles.

All ready to go trick or treating
After filling our baskets with candy from the neighborhood we went to the ward for the last few minutes of our Trunk or Treat.  Hayden really wanted to see his primary teacher at Trunk or Treat.
Hayden and his teacher Sister Sproat

After the Trunk or Treat we went to the "rich" neighborhood close to the church house to get the big candy bars.  The kids were cold and only wanted to do a few houses.  After that we came home and ate candy, watched a Halloween movie and somehow went to bed on a sugar high.  Fun, fun night!

My Birthday!!

Yay for my birthday!!  I turned the big 3-6 in October.  I will always love my birthday, no matter what the number, but it was a little sobering realizing I'm getting closer and closer to 40, which really is not old at all.  But when I was younger, like in young women's 40 seemed so old, especially considering some of my friend's mothers were 36 while we were in young women.  I am still quite young though, and many times feel as insecure as I did in Middle School.  Thought I'd be over those insecurities by now, but getting better(:
I had a wonderful birthday.  Jerry and the kids really made it a special day/ weekend for me.  I have been so blessed in my 36 years.  Looking forward to many more years of great memories - and overcoming those insecurities.  haha.

Random moments from Fall 2012

We took this in our backyard.  I figured we needed at least one decent picture of our family wearing our Purdue garb.

Where is Hayden??  His take on the "Headless Horseman" Purdue style.

There is a trampoline jump at the mall that the kids beg and beg to go on every time we go to the mall.  We told them if they earned the money for it we'd take them.  They all - well, Maybe not Sydney so much - worked so hard for the next several weeks to earn the money to go on the 3 minute mall jump.  They all said it was so worth it.  They each got some good height too.
Hayden jumping high

Rebecca got the highest

Sydney finally got the hang of it and started getting higher just as the time was coming to an end.

We got this sleep mask for games at Rebecca's birthday party.  A few nights later I went in to check on her before I went to bed and saw this little sleeping beauty.  She cracks me up!

Love this girl!

Ah, handsome boy.  Steak 'N Shake is our new favorite splurge.  Kids eat free on weekends so we go about once a month when we need a fun family day out.  Love it there.

 Haircut time

Love this picture of these two in their school shirts.

It was still quite warm outside, but Rebecca and Sydney decided to get dressed for the snow.

Luke got to move to a big boy car seat!!

These Little House on the Prairie girls love dressing up.

The girls found their leotards and did gymnastics around the house one night.  They are so cute.  Sydney just loves to feel like one of the big kids and when Rebecca includes her in activities it just makes her day.  The thing I love about this picture is that Rebecca - my diva- has her poses down, and Sydney just wants to be like Rebecca.  She's still working on the poses.
